Of Saturdays And Silence
perched on an ottoman
busy keeping watch
I pause from gathering words
from worn pages
to watch a miracle
live peacefully in my
presence
the clouds move through
the dense sky
draping Saturday afternoon
in its humble essence
carefully
I turn the page
rain is in the air
God is pacing heaven's floors
busy answering prayers
I welcome silent
moments like these
moments that remind me
of unfailing love
and small victories
I know people change
the boom in their voices
shrink to whispers
and the bonds that were meant
to rage in the days
of extinction
wither away
but the miracle before me
still perched on an ottoman
professes her loyalty
without ever uttering a word
without ever changing her
love
